Writing Mentoring

Intuitive and supportive mentoring

I work with a small number of writers, often on a regular monthly basis, sometimes in short bursts or as a one-off.

The writers I work with have gone on to finish their books, sign with agents, win prizes and attract interest from publishers – but this is never the reason writers work with me.

Writing asks and gives a lot to us. Writers ask and give a lot of themselves. The support I provide helps writers to move through this give and take, exploring and refining the heart of their creative ambition and finding ways to make the work they need to make in the context of complicated lives.

The mentoring I offer can help writers out of stuck places and difficult tangles, reignite creative sparks and can hold them as they make their work ensuring they stay on track, even when the track itself twists and turns.

I want writers to write and for the reality of that creative process to bolster rather than drain them. I want them to have someone to turn to when it feels exciting and when it feels difficult. I want them to find the questions they need to ask and to be supported as they work to answer them.

I work via Zoom online and can also offer in-person support at my home in Scotland, both for local writers and for writers who want help to create their own supported writing retreat.
